Position Summary:


At Peoples Bank, we are passionate about providing an exceptional customer experience while helping our customers achieve their financial goals.   In this specialized role, you will  have the flexibility and opportunity to use your love of working with people, sales, and customer service in a dual capacity.  This position will include all phases of teller work and will include opening and closing customer accounts, selling banking deposit products, referring clients to the loan and investment departments and resolving client problems.  You will do all that you can to enhance the customer’s experience at Peoples Bank, build new relationships and retain existing customers.

Teller Duties

  • Project a friendly, positive image to customers and coworkers, greeting customers with a smile
  • Perform a wide variety of banking transactions such as: process deposit and loan payments, cash checks, issue Cashier’s Checks and Money Orders, process night deposits, prepare coin and currency orders, use coin counter, count and package currency, provide account printouts, process credit card transactions, accept real estate tax payments, help customers change their debit card PIN number, and more
  • Process all transactions accurately, handling each efficiently and with appropriate discretion
  • Open and close cash drawer OR TCR daily, ensuring proper handling of cash and negotiables, balancing according to Teller Policy, reporting any discrepancies to Head Teller; accountable for proof errors and out of policy decisions
  • Maintain policy for cash drawer limits, balancing under the limit each day
  • Balance ATM, balance the vault, order currency or other duties as requested by manager
  • Maintain dual control as outlined by policy (getting into vault, processing night deposits, balancing ATM, etc.)
  • Help customers in lobby and drive up, answer phone and fill in at other locations/branches as necessary
  • Proactively listen for opportunities to help customers by referring them to the Personal Bankers, Loan Department or Investment Department as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 Personal Banker Duties
  • Deliver customer service like you expect to receive it -- with excellence; greet customers in the lobby and on the phone, research customer inquiries, fulfill customer requests, enhancing customer retention and exploring additional sales opportunities
  • Demonstrate relentlessly high standards, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Open all types of deposit accounts:  DDA, SAV, CD, HSA, IRA, MM and business accounts, and Instant Issue Debit Cards including running OFAC and Chexsystems Reports as required; close and revise accounts as necessary
  • Help enroll or teach customers about debit cards, and cross sell digital services and troubleshoot problems with PINs or passwords where applicable.
  • Process all accounts and services accurately and within 24 hours, maintaining fields on Navigator and routing paperwork to Customer Care Department; correct account exceptions in a timely manner
  • Recommend and sell solutions to customers, suggesting bank products and services within your department and referring business to other departments to service customers in the best manner possible
  • Perform sales duties: cross sell products and services, conduct sales conversations to identify appropriate customer banking needs, ensure customer usage of products, deepen and retain customer relationships within branch portfolio, send thank you cards, complete follow up calls, participate in sales promotions and calls
  • Display good verbal and written communication skills when interacting with customers and co-workers
Knowledge
  • Must have an excellent understanding of the core system, Navigator, Teller Software and BPM
  • Must have thorough knowledge of bank deposit accounts and services
  • Must have working knowledge of products and services offered by other departments so you can refer customers
  • Should be comfortable working with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of customer information
